More on Sean Patrick Conroy Possible Racially Motivated Crime in Philadelphia Andy : Your article reported: "The FBI counted 7,722 hate-crime incidents nationwide in 2006, of which 4,000 were on the basis of race. Of those, 890 were crimes against whites and 2,640 were anti-black." Andy: The FBI stats are not necessarily fair. For example when Hispanics commit a hate crime they are classified as "white" but when they are victims of a hate crime they are classified not as a race but as an ethnic group called Hispanics. That inflates whites as hate crime perpetrators and decreases them as victims. According to the US Department of Justice blacks are twice as likely to commit a hate crime as whites. Racially biased Robbery is certainly a "personal" crime, but the FBI classifies it as a "property crime," when in fact their records show that blacks commit most of the reported racially motivated robberies. I have been in contact with the US Department of Justice for the past 10 years attempting to encourage them to have those matters changed--they "diligently" ignore me and many others making the same requests.
